I had an incredible visit to Shaler Elementary School last week where I performed two shows for 350 students grades four thru six. The kids were really great and enjoyed the shows. Shaler Elementary is a great supporter of the arts, which as you know, is becoming increasingly rare these days, and they have an extensive river studies program for the kids. They take the students on walking tours at the trail along the Allegheny River and integrate many activities to accompany their studies about Pittsburgh's three rivers. My show was brought to Shaler Elementary courtesy of Gateway to the Arts in Pittsburgh. My visit to Shaler ended with a great surprise when Mrs. Orlanda Hahn, a teacher who provided coal miners' artifacts as props for the shows, donated the items to me for use at other schools and at my speaking engagements. To visit and read about my newly donated Miners' Traveling Museum, visit http://www.tombreiding.com and click on the navigational pages for School Shows or Speakers Series. Thanks, also, to Mrs. Suzanne Flynn, who was an incredibly kind and gracious host throughout my visit. I can't say enough about all the folks, students, teachers, and personnel at Shaler Elementary for their generosity.
