Tom's Release Message about "Time to Roll"

This record is so special to me. It is my first commercial production venture, my first record recorded entirely with one band (all great players and old friends, by the way), and the first record I have released with a real opportunity to support with live shows...and do we ever have some live shows lined up. Get on board...Time to Roll!

Tom's Album Message from "Guitar and Pen II"

Thanks for buying Guitar and Pen Vol. II. After Two Tone Chevrolet's recent release, and with the writing for two upcoming projects already in the works, it became evident that I had a backlog of songs that might never be produced, so I decided to release them in this guitar/vocal format. Some of these songs are special to me, and i enjoyed sifting through the original demos. The Magic of Christmas includes my son Jack, six years old at the time, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Pretty Words I wrote the evening I returned from the funeral home where I paid last respects to bandmate and friend, Kirk Engel (and which, ironically, was recorded the day I visited the funeral home for friend, Dan DaPra, who in 1998 booked me at the Leaf and Bean Company for the original Guitar and Pen sessions), and My Hometown was written during the week after 9/11 and recorded less than a month later. Because I've found there are sometimes qualities in original song demos that I could never recreate in a studio, and this was a perfect opportunity to share some with you, the guitar and vocal tracks in all buy the last two selections were recorded together live, directly to the source. Though they never found their way to my records, these songs were written to be shared. I hope you enjoy them.

"As different musical ideas began to shape these recording sessions, I focused on lyric content to bring definition to this project. Keeping these songs conversational, I wrote some of them as continuations or responses to others, and they appear as such on the disc. They explore a few of the many different ways as we look at life and love. Just think of the conversations you might overhear in a crowded bar...at Happy Hour In the Round Hotel." - Tom
