Hey Everyone,
As some of you might remember, I wrote last year about a friend who told me he suspected I enjoy playing music so much because I don't do it full time. I've got to tell you that things have changed, but it certainly doesn't mean that I don't enjoy it any less. Sometimes things just go by and I don't realize until later just how special my life is. Last Saturday my son performed the drums with me for the first time and did an extraordinary job. From there I went to Carnegie to see my friends Andrea Pearl and Jill Simmons do a fantastic job at the Blues festival. I spent much of the time talking to so many friends who are involved in the local music scene here. This week, thanks to Rege and Andy at the Tribune review I spent an amazing two days in the coalfields of West Virginia. I don't know of any other place on earth that stirs the emotions like the heart of Appalachia. Look for a cover story in Sunday's Tribune Review on September 23rd. I know it will be a great article after our unbelievable visit. I hope all of you can help make the CD release show a success. Please plan to attend; it will be a very special night. Well, I have to be at my afternoon show in less than an hour and then it's off to the friendly skies so I can perform tonight at a festival in New Jersey. Then it's back to West Virginia for two to four shows a day before I can return home on Wednesday. Sorry, but I don't want to trade places with you. Take care and I hope to see all of you soon.
Your friend,
Tom

Hey Everyone,
Sorry the guestbook has been down. Nick has been doing a lot of work to secure our current server and reconstruct this site for the new album. Look for lots of changes in the next few weeks.
Thanks,
Tom

How exciting to read your new note. Sounds great. I'm particularly excited about the Light of Day thing. I'll plan on checking that out for sure.

Hope to see you soon,

Afternoon Show

SETLIST:

Tom acoustic solo:
1. My Old Man and Me

Full Band:
2. I Am a Union Minor
3. Daddy's Old Black Hearse
4. Stockcar King
5. Manifold Road
6. Six Days on the Road - Jeff Stevens lead vocals
7. Saving Grace
8. American Son
9. End of the Line
10.Dynamite Truck
11.You Don't Want to Loose Her

What a great day of music! The start of the show was delayed due to torrential rain around noon. It soon cleared up and the band, Kickstart (American Son members Jeff Stevens, Chris Moore and Mike "Pit" Mozena) began their set. If you get a chance to see these guys you won't be disappointed, they are solid musicians and put on a great show. Tom began his set with a solo acoustic version of My Old Man and Me and then American Son joined him on stage for an amazing performance of the song, I Am A Union Minor. The harp, the harmonies, the percussion, the blues - WOW!

OK...I realize I'm the impatient type, but I can't help myself. How was New York, what's up with the new CD?

Can't wait to hear it...and hope all went well.

Linda

Message from Tom:
Hi Linda,
The CD master is complete and I just put the finishing touches on the liner notes. I have some funding issues to get in order before I manufacture, but the official release date has been set for Sept. 29 when we will have a release party at Cefalo's in Carnegie, PA. The Mavins will open the show, followed by The Gearhearts with whom I'll perform the new material, and American Son will close the show. I hope you can make it.

Hey Folks,
I had a great week of work to finish The Unbroken Circle. I had a fantastic session on Sunday in which the Short Crick Flatpickers, a touring bluegrass band of twenty years from West Virginia that I grew up listening to reunited for an afternoon to do what turns out to be one of my favorite tracks on the record. On Monday Mike Mozena, my friend and bass player from American Son, laid down a beautiful harp part to finish Union Miner. I know I had to break a few commitments and I was probably on edge all week so thanks for everyone I worked with being patient with me. I devoted every waking hour to finishing these mixes so I would have a good product to take to NYC this morning. It was worth all the time and effort. Have a great weekend and I'll see you when I get back. Time to roll...

Tom,

Great show at the Leaf n Bean and even better one at the River City last night. Glad I got to catch them both. Your band sounded great last night. Hope to catch another show soon!

Take care....Buda

Hey Tom,

So glad Zeke and I came to Club Cafe last night for the Bob Beach and Friends show! You fit in well with all of the performers. I really liked your new songs - can't wait for the new CD!
And "Gary's 55" fit in perfectly. I think you got some new fans.
We heard music we don't usually see live. I'd go see all of them again.

Message from Tom:
Maria,
I'm glad you had a good time. I really enjoyed all the artists on the bill. Thanks so much for showing your support with Zeke!

Tom, I understand you've got a new release coming out (Soon, I hope!). Big CD release party coming up?

Anyhow, congratulations in advance...I'm sure the new record will be awesome.

Linda

Message from Tom:
Thanks Linda,
There will be a CD release show, but I'm not sure when or where yet. I'm planning on a big show at Cefalo's in September.
